There  is much research aimed at determining the cause of  pseudoexfoliation since it is the leading cause of open angle glaucoma, and one of the top reasons for complications associated with cataract  surgery. Once the exact cause can be found, new treatments, cures and methods of  prevention can be discovered. Dr. Robert Cykiert, in  collaboration with  some leading research scientists, is actively involved in pseudoexfoliation research.
